The architectural identity expresses the past and the present and shows the local personality. In designing the modern architecture we can input the antiquated architectural substances as a way for expressing the ancient and the modern. We can also benefit from the developing technology, the suitable components for the architectural environment, and the climate of the different areas in order to get the benefit and the aesthetical purpose and conserving the architecture and increasing its estimated age especially in the coastal areas due to the difference of the temperatures and the climates in these areas.
The architect does not have to consider depending on the heritage an obstacle for him, but he has instead to depend on his aesthetic imagination supported by the greatness of this heritage to make an architectural aesthetic work. If the modern technological development of the building substances obliges the architect to involve himself in prompting it and getting benefit from it in his work, the architecture of the coastal environment will add to another obstacle, that of the big difference of the climate: the earth and the water get great amounts of heat and sun rays in the day time then they reflect and steam them into moist water upwards in the night.
This leads to an increase of the temperature inside the floors, the walls, and the ceilings of the buildings which causes the erosion of the building substances in the architectural external elevations due to the steam and the accumulated salts on the building. Consequently, there will be no comfort for the inhabitants and the costs of repairing this building will increase.
This emphasizes that the architecture of the coastal environment makes the designer face a lot of problems that should be conquered through many suggestions which can be studied to get suitable solutions for achieving the scientific and artistic balance for the architecture of the coastal environment. This was applied on the northern are of Sinai during making a design to enrich the upper tank in El-Arish. The research contains:
